The results are out.
On 4th January, hundreds of you sat for the All India Rank (AIR) Full Length UPSC ISS Mock Test. For some, this result is a celebration. For many others, it is a wake-up call.
I have analyzed the data deeply, and I have one question for you: Are you safe, or are you in danger?
Don’t answer me. Look at the numbers below and answer yourself.
1. The Scorecard: The Gap is Massive
The difference between a “Selection” and “Rejection” is clearly visible in the marks gap between the Toppers and the Average student.
Paper 1 (Objective Statistics – I)
- Highest Score: 176.7 Marks (Secured by Nira)
- Average Score: 78.8 Marks
- The Reality: The topper is almost 100 marks ahead of the average student.
Paper 1 (Objective Statistics – II)
- Highest Score: 170 Marks (Secured by Nira)
- Average Score: 87 Marks
Overall Top 3 Rankers (Total Score):
- Nira – 346.80
- Imtehan – 339.30
- Meenakshi – 328.40
(I have attached the full AIR Leaderboard PDF at the bottom of this blog. Check your rank there.)
2. Why is Your Score Low? (3 Common Mistakes)
If you scored near the average, don’t blame the paper. The paper was standard. The problem was your approach.

Here are the 3 Biggest Mistakes I found in the answer sheets:
❌ Mistake 1: The “Lottery” Mindset (Negative Marking)
Most students marked answers blindly just to increase their attempt count.
- The Issue: You ignored accuracy.
- The Fix: In UPSC ISS, accuracy is king. Attempting 80 questions with 90% accuracy is better than attempting 100 with 60% accuracy.
❌ Mistake 2: Fear of “Long” Questions
Many of you skipped questions just by looking at the length.
- The Reality: Often, long questions have the simplest solutions. You are judging the book by its cover and losing easy marks.
❌ Mistake 3: Using “Subjective” Methods in “Objective” Paper
This was the biggest time-killer.
- In Order Statistics: You are using long integration methods. Stop! Use properties.
- In Numerical Analysis: You are wasting time deriving formulas instead of using direct shortcuts.
3. The Way Forward: Bridge the Gap
The “21-Day Challenge” was just the warm-up. Now that you know your weak areas, you need a professional system to fix them before June.
